Folks, I have some exciting news! I have two (2) (non-related Toastmasters, LOL!) speaking engagements lined up for April.
First, I'm going to be a keynote speaker (and possibly emcee) for the Arlington Food Assistance Center's (AFAC) 30th anniversary "Shining A Light on Hunger" event, to be held Thursday, April 19 at the Army-Navy Country Club in Arlington, Virginia. There will be a ton of AFAC corporate sponsors in attendance, and I will be sharing the stage with the guest of honor, former First Lady of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Mrs. Dorothy McAuliffe.
Then, exactly one week later, on the morning of August 26, I'll not only be speaking, but will be giving an impromptu yoga class to the staff of the U.S. Defense Health Agency as part of it's "Take Our Children To Work Day" event. I'm waiting for the organizers to send me the topic they want me to talk about so I can prepare my remarks.
Granted, both are non-paid, but my goal to have such an impact that these "speak for free" engagements ultimately turn into "SPEAK FOR FEE" opportunities. In order to do that, I know that I have to have my game "ON LOCK!"
Speaking of Toastmasters, I will be competing in the Division F Toastmasters International Evaluation Contest on Saturday, April 14 at the Woodrow Wilson Library in Falls Church, Virginia. AND......! I'm competing in the International Speech Contest for Division B on Saturday, April 28 at the Fairfax County Government Center in Fairfax, Virginia. Let me know if you would like to attend one or both of those events and see my take one step closer to the WORLD PUBLIC SPEAKING CHAMPIONSHIP later this year in Chicago.
